Conwy Mind conservation sessions – removing invasive cotoneaster with the North Wales Wildlife Trust

Join us for a series of conservation sessions that helps protect nature while giving you the chance to get outdoors, stay active, and boost your wellbeing.

Over the course of two sessions we’ll be helping the North Wales Wildlife Trust’s Community Roots Project to remove dead cotoneaster from the grassland and hillside of Pen y Corddyn Bach, Rhyd y Foel. Removing this invasive species will give the tremendous variety of limestone grassland flora the space they need to re-establish.

Each session includes:

We’ll be using loppers, saws and secateurs to remove the cotoneaster but most of the time it will simply break off in your hand. We’ll then bag the arisings in tonne bags before dragging them down the short, winding decline downhill, where they’ll be collected at a later date by the gate.
