🎉 Conwy Mind Celebrates 40 Years with Launch of “40 for 40” Fundraising Campaign

New campaign launches during Mental Health Awareness Week to celebrate four decades of local mental health support

Conwy Mind, a local mental health charity supporting people across Conwy County since 1985, is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the launch of a bold new campaign: “40 for 40” – a year-long fundraising and awareness effort calling on the community to take action for mental health.

The campaign, which officially launches during Mental Health Awareness Week (12–18 May 2025), has a fundraising goal of £40,000 and a mission to recruit 40 Mental Health Changemakers – individuals, groups, or businesses committed to raising awareness, reducing stigma, and supporting mental health in the local area.

🚴‍♂️ First Challenge: 40 miles for 40 Years

The campaign kicks off on Thursday 15 May with the first official fundraising challenge: a 40 miles exercise bike ride outside Tesco in Abergele, taking place from 9am–5pm. It’s the first of many creative challenges the Conwy Mind team will take on over the next 40 weeks, each representing a year of the charity’s dedicated service.

Expect everything from baking 40 cakes, to performing 40 acts of kindness, with a new challenge announced every week to inspire the community to get involved in fun, accessible, and meaningful ways.

💡 Get Involved: Your Own “40 for 40” Challenge

Residents and supporters are encouraged to take on their own “40-themed” challenge at any point throughout the year – whether it’s:

  • Walking 40 miles
  • Reading 40 books
  • Hosting a 40-person quiz night
  • Doing 40 random acts of kindness

No idea is too small or too silly. Every effort supports Conwy Mind’s vital work and helps raise awareness about mental health.

💚 A New Era for Conwy Mind

Since its founding in 1985, Conwy Mind has been at the heart of mental health support in the region—offering 1-to-1 counselling, community programmes, mental health education, and peer support networks.

As part of this new era, the charity is also expanding its mission with the Changemakers campaign—encouraging individuals to play an active role in mental health advocacy and support. From taking a Mental Health MOT to speaking up about their experiences, locals can help create a culture where mental health is openly discussed and supported.

Denise Roberts, CEO of Conwy Mind, said:

“We’re entering a new era for Conwy Mind. This campaign is about empowering the whole community to take action and create stronger, more resilient communities. We can’t do it alone—but with the passion of our Changemakers and the strength of our supporters, we can shift the conversation, tackle stigma and make mental health a shared priority.

It feels incredibly fitting that our 40th anniversary aligns with the launch of this campaign and the arrival of our new fundraising team. It’s an exciting time for Conwy Mind, and we’re more committed than ever to supporting our community—today, tomorrow, and for the next 40 years.”
