12 hours walking, 18.5 miles covered and over £1,400 raised for Conwy Mind!

Aled Edwards, who is one of our dedicated volunteers has been keen to do a fundraiser for Conwy Mind for quite some time now. With his love of the great outdoors and walking he decided to set himself this mammoth walking challenge and also rope his friend Aled Foel in!

The pair of them have been training for a few months, going on big walks, taking on the stair master at the gym and Aled Edwards even got the family involved and took his daughter on hikes in her rucksack carrier!

The day finally came and they set off at 7:30am after some bacon butties for fuel! First, they headed to Tryfan and then it was onto Glyder fach, Gyder fawr and down to Pen Y Pass before their final hurdle – Snowdon! As you can imagine, their feet were already sore and their legs were already tired after the miles they had covered and now they had to take on Snowdon! Aled said the last 3 hours of the hike took a lot of mindfulness and digging deep but – they did it and made it to the summit!

The end was then in sight as they headed back down the mountain to get to the finish where they were greeted by their supportive families who provided lots of cuddles and even a handmade banner!

Despite the mental challenges during the walk, Aled and Aled are still keen to do more! Aled Edwards said “For now we’re going to have a little rest but we’ve loved fundraising for Conwy Mind so much we can’t wait to start thinking what stupid challenges we can come up with next.”

All the team at Conwy Mind are so grateful for their efforts and also super proud of their achievements, they absolutely smashed their fundraising target and the money raised will make a huge difference to the work we do here at Conwy Mind. Thank you both SO much!

Their fundraising page is still open, if anyone wishes to make a donation head here!
