Mental Health is important EVERY week, but we know life can get busy, so having a dedicated week to really think about your mental health, check in on others and help squash the stigma around mental health is so important!
We had a super busy week last week to raise as much awareness as possible! We got out and about in the community to let people know about us and the services we provide, we visited 6 locations with information stands, did 3 talks for local schools and organised our own fundraising event (Walkie Talkie.) On top of that, our hard working team still delivered their support calls, active monitoring programme and counselling sessions.
We weren’t the only ones having a busy week, we had a number of supporters raising funds for us! And we’d like to say a HUGE thank you to each and everyone of them.
First up, we had the wonderful schools that got on board with our ‘Wear it Blue’ campaign…
- Ysgol Dyfrryn Conwy raised £1,000 by doing a sponsored run in blue with their year 7’s!
- Ysgol Hen Golwyn raised £114.72 by doing a dress down day in blue on the Friday!
- Ysgol T Gwynn Jones raised £145.54 by doing a dress down day in blue on the Friday!
- Ysgol Llangelynnin raised £87.30 by doing a dress down day in blue on the Friday!
Then, as you may have seen Dylan from Northern Fire created a special pendant for MHAW that portrayed an important message. From one week of sales he has been able to donate an incredible £300 to Conwy Mind! Read all about his special pendant design here.
We then had very kind support from Abergele Rotary Club who spent their weekend collecting for Conwy Mind at Tesco in Abergele. After counting the very heavy buckets we got an amazing total of £499.94! A huge thanks to the Rotary Club for volunteering their time for us, and of course to the generosity of Tesco shoppers!
We would like to thank everyone involved in helping us raise awareness last week, including Bayside Radio for giving us the opportunity to talk on the show, all the libraries and colleges that gave us space for information stands and of course to Gwyrch Castle for lighting up their spectacular castle blue all week for Mental Health Awareness Week!
So, along with our Walkie Talkie event and all our fundraisers that week we raised £3,000 during Mental Health Awareness Week!! We are blown away by the amount raised and the support we have received, this amount will go a long way and help us ensure people don’t struggle alone.
