We have some tee-rific news! April marks the new Captaincy at Old Colwyn Golf Club which also means, we are now OCGC’s charity of the year! We are so grateful to have been chosen by Jason, The Captain who has a few things planned to raise funds! (Golfers, just beware of the ditch on the 8th & 17th hole!!) When asked why Jason chose to support Conwy Mind he said…
“For me, there is no better way to tackle the stigma surrounding health and vulnerability than to team up with the County’s lead mental health charity. With over 85% of our membership base comprising of men, there is almost an unwritten ‘rule’ that you can’t talk about your struggles. We want to break down the barriers and ensure that our members can reach out to get the help they need, whether it’s internally as a club or externally with the help of Conwy Mind. Golf is a tough sport to play as it is, without bringing the burden of work, home or other personal issues along with you. Many use the sport as an escape, but with the right help and support our members will be able to enjoy their round to its full extent.”
We can’t thank Jason enough for choosing to support us and can’t wait to see what he has planned throughout his Captaincy!
