This week we are celebrating National Trustee Week. As a charity, we are required to have a Board of Trustees who are responsible for the governance of the organisation.

We are very grateful to our Trustees who volunteer their time without payment to ensure that the organisation is well managed and sustainable. We asked our Trustees why they want to be part of the Conwy Mind family. Here are their responses:

Robin, the Chair of the Board said:

“I have been committed to improving services for people with mental health problems approaching fifty years . Following retirement from the NHS, becoming a Mind Trustee gave me the perfect opportunity to continue this work.”

Jacky, Treasurer, said:

“After retiring I felt my skills as an Operational Manager of a large Charity in North Wales and previous experience in HR and Training would be beneficial to another Charity looking for those skills. I devote a few hours each week to do as much as I can for Conwy Mind and find it mutually rewarding.”

Carol, Vice Chair, said:

“As a trustee of Conwy Mind, I am proud to be part of a team which works to ensure that our charity is well governed and managed.

Equally important is our work in anticipating future requirements in service provision.

We do this through setting strategic direction and business planning. All of which helps ensure our sustainability.

Being a trustee allows me to participate in assisting in the provision of these much-needed services to the community in which I live.”

Carolyn, Trustee Safeguarding Lead, said:

“Having worked within Mental Health Services for over 30 years, I am passionate about finding ways to promote positive mental health and the early intervention in the delivery of timely, quality and evidence-based interventions across all ages. Being a trustee for Conwy Mind enabled me to participate in this work within the voluntary sector.”

We are currently recruiting for 3 more Trustees to join the Conwy Mind Board of Trustees. If you are interested, please email suzanne.evanson@conwymind.org.uk or rind 01492 879907.
